Becoming Catholic OCIA
Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, Teens & Children
Is Jesus calling you? Or someone you know to become Catholic? Or are you baptized Catholic and want to receive your Catholic sacraments? You are welcome to join our Order of Christian Initiation (OCIA)classes for adults and teens.
Classes for Teens & Adults are held on Wednesday Evenings 5:45-7:30pm September through May in the St. Joseph Room at Immaculate Conception Church.
To register adults or teens for OCIA classes, please contact Sacha Anne Etzel via email; dre@immacstayton.org to set up a time to meet and to sign up before August 15th. A mandatory meeting has to occur before August 15th to be in this class.
To register a child (3rd through 8th grade) for OCIC classes, if your child is going to be in 4th grade or higher for the Fall school year please contact Sacha Anne Etzel via email; dre@immacstayton.org. A mandatory meeting and in person registration has to occur before August 15th to be in this class.
Classes are held on Sundays.
Each family is required to be parishioners and to attend Mass every Sunday at Immaculate Conception church or our Mission church.

Through formation and instruction, the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, journey is unique to each person. We begin with a meeting to discuss your personal journey. If you are baptized Catholic, baptized in another church or unbaptized, welcome!
The Order of Christian Initiation (OCIA) classes are for all ages. Adult class are for 15yr olds to adults. OCIC classes are for children 8yrs-14 yrs old on Sundays.
The OCIA journey involves four steps: Inquiry (inquiring about God and the Catholic Church), Acceptance/Catechumenate (continued learning in becoming a Catholic), and Elect/Enlightenment (when one is ready to make a permanent faith commitment in the Catholic Church).
Mystagogy integrates what began during formation and instruction, deeping the meaning of what it is to be Catholic. We look forward to meeting you!
