New Title

Baptism

Infant Baptism is offered for children from birth up to 7 years old. All children 7 years of age or older who have not been baptized will receive their sacraments through our Sacramental Preparation classes, which are adapted for children.

Immaculate Conception Catholic Church schedules baptisms depending on the availability of the priest or deacon. Please contact Janell Dickey at sec@immacstayton.org or 503.769.2656 with questions or to schedule a baptism.

Baptism Requirements for Immaculate Conception

1. Those interested in having their child baptized must call the parish office three months prior to the date they wish to baptize their child.

2. The parents and child's godparent must take or have taken a baptism preparation class within the last 2 years.

3. You must call the parish office so a baptism registration form can be completed prior to the baptism.

Who Can Be a Godparent?

Preferably both, but at least one of the godparents needs to be a practicing Catholic that has been Confirmed, (if married, they must have been married in the Catholic Church, or in a marriage recognized by the Catholic Church). "There is to be only one male sponsor or one female sponsor or one of each." (CCL #873).
