His title was changed to pastor in 2011 and served there for six years. In 2017, he was named pastor to Immaculate Conception Church in Stayton and its mission St. Catherine of Sienna in Mill City. Fr. Nguyen also serves as pastor to Our Lady of Lourdes in Jordan and its mission St. Patrick in Lyons.

Fr. Nguyen was born in 1968 in Saigon. He harbored a calling to be a priest when he was young, but the communist system officials deterred seminaries. After he came to the United States at age 24, he obtained an electrical engineering degree from Portland State University and began working as a technician at electrical companies. In 1999, he began to discern the calling to a vocation of priesthood again. He was accepted and entered Mount Angel Seminary in 2000.

“I just want to help people establish a relationship with God,” he explained before his ordination. “Jesus has to be the center.”

Fr. Nguyen enjoys playing card games such as Pinochle and Shanghai Rum. He also loves watching sports, playing tennis with other in town and is currently learning to play golf.
