First Reconciliation and First Eucharist
Baptism is the entrance and the gateway into the life of Christ. The person who is baptized has put on Christ and needs to continue to nourish the life of Christ throughout his/her entire life until that life is lived with God in eternity.
Children who received baptism as infants or were very young (before the age of seven or eight) begin the nourishment of Christ's life around the time of second grade. This preparation includes the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist.
Instruction and formation for receiving these two sacraments usually begins in September. The sessions for first Reconciliation are conducted for about eight to ten weeks and culminate in a celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation usually at the beginning of the Advent season. After a break, sessions for First Eucharist usually begin in January and are conducted for about eight to ten weeks. These sessions culminate with a parish celebration of these children's First Eucharist in April or May. Contact Trish West (503) 769-2656
